Crowned for Ashes exists to create opportunities for LASTING CONNECTION for those walking journeys impacted by loss.
Hear from the sister of one of our first retreat attendees Kathleen about the impact Crowned for Ashes had on her story.
“Can you imagine someone you love going through an unimaginable pain & you can do nothing to fix it or take it away or make it better? That’s why I give to Crowned for Ashes because when that happened to my sister and I could physically do nothing, through their own experiences they helped her learn to carry her grief.
November 2018 was the worst month of my life. The unimaginable happened to my little sister, just six months after getting married she lost her husband. Newlyweds, their hopes and dreams were stolen. I watched her break – her dreams, her heart, her life gone as she knew it and there was nothing I could do. I remember the drive to get to her. I remember praying harder than I’ve ever prayed in my life. Begging God. I remember physically pouring myself into praying because I knew that God was the only one who could heal her. He was the only way through, though I didn’t know how at the time. The months following November 2018 only seemed to get darker but I knew that God is faithful, and I knew that He would carry her & our family somehow. And He did. Each day, she/we kept going and eventually a friend heard of Crowned for ashes and made the connection.
There were many prayers that were answered in many different ways that only our heavenly Father could do and one of those answers prayers came in the form of Crowned for Ashes, a retreat for young widows like Kathleen. I remember the change that we began to see in her after she went, the Hope that she felt that she told us about after she went to that event. I’m so thankful for Crowned for Ashes, because they helped to carry her burdern as Gal 6:2 says.
That’s why I give because in a time where all I could do, all I was supposed to do, was to pray the Lord used the heart and pains of others who had lived this before her & were willing to share their stories to help her. I encourage you to give for anyone you know or don’t know, but where you wanted to help, but thought there’s nothing I could do, but I wish I could do something you can give to Crowned for Ashes that they can help other young widows like Kathleen.”
